IVO Systems builds easy-to-use operations software for heavy civil contractors running site-based, self-perform operations. Founded in Wisconsin in 2019, IVO helps contractors connect the field, shop, and office in one practical system built around daily construction operations. The platform is built with company-wide access and flexible, a la carte modules, so contractors can give their teams the tools they need without paying for seats or software they won't use.

Here’s a closer look at the IVO Systems modules recognized by Construction Executive, and how each one helps contractors manage the moving parts of daily construction operations.

Managing Equipment and Assets

TrackVO

TrackVO is IVO’s online magnet board for managing equipment by project. It replaces physical magnets, whiteboards, sticky notes, and scattered spreadsheets with a live, company-accessible dashboard.

From any device, teams can see where equipment is located, move assets between projects, view notes and photos, and track owned equipment, attachments, tools, and non-GPS assets in the same system. Contractors can also control who can view or edit information, giving the right people access without opening everything up to everyone.

For contractors managing equipment across multiple crews and jobs, TrackVO creates a clearer picture of what is available, where it is sitting, and what needs to happen next.

TelematicsVO

TelematicsVO brings OEM and third-party GPS data into one connected platform. Instead of jumping between provider portals, contractors can review equipment location, usage, idle time, fuel data, hour meters, odometer readings, and other telematics information inside IVO.

IVO integrates with all OEM and third-party telematics providers that have an open API, including providers like John Deere, Caterpillar, Komatsu, Samsara, Verizon Connect, One Step GPS, Geotab, and many more.

That data can support more accurate equipment tracking, help reduce manual updates, and give contractors a more complete view of what is happening across their fleet.

MaintainVO+

MaintainVO+ helps contractors manage preventive maintenance, work orders, equipment history, and mechanic timecards from one connected workflow.

Maintenance teams can schedule service by hours, miles, or dates, manage repair requests, track historical service records, and keep work orders visible to the people who need them. With the MaintainVO+ add-on, mechanic time can also be entered directly from the work order screen, helping contractors tie labor to the right equipment and repair.

Equipment information, hour meters, odometers, accounting codes, pay classes, and notes can flow into mechanic timecard entries automatically. That gives the shop a cleaner way to track mechanic labor without separating it from the maintenance work being completed.

For Terra Engineering & Construction, IVO helped replace paper maintenance cards, spreadsheets, and manual follow-up with a more connected process. In their case study with IVO Systems, Seth Zimmerman, Vice President of Operations, said, “You're saving 10-20 hours of messing around a week for multiple people all added together.”

EqInspectVO

EqInspectVO replaces paper inspection forms with electronic equipment inspection forms that operators can complete from a phone or tablet.

Contractors can build custom inspection forms, attach photos and notes, and notify the right people when an issue is submitted. Inspection results can also support the maintenance process, helping managers identify problems earlier and keep equipment issues from getting buried in paperwork.

For contractors that rely on daily or routine equipment inspections, EqInspectVO makes those records easier to collect, review, and act on.

Scheduling Employees and Equipment

ScheduleVO

ScheduleVO brings employee and project scheduling into a familiar digital magnet-board view. Schedulers can assign employees and crews to jobs, add notes, organize work by project or division, and send interactive text or email notifications when the schedule is ready.

Those notifications can give employees access to the information they need for the day, including job details, notes, map pins, documents, inspection forms, timecards, and related project information.

Terra Engineering & Construction uses ScheduleVO to replace the spreadsheet-and-email process that used to drive daily scheduling. In IVO's case study with Terra Engineering & Construction, Chris Steinke, Operations Manager, described the old process as “an Excel spreadsheet and sending emails,” with constant changes turning the schedule into “a rigmarole.”

With ScheduleVO, schedule updates can be made and shared faster, giving crews clearer information without requiring as many calls, emails, or manual updates.

DispatchVO

DispatchVO simplifies how contractors create, assign, and manage equipment move tickets.

Dispatchers can build electronic dispatch tickets, assign them to drivers, attach route details or supporting information, and update tickets when plans change. Drivers can access tickets from any device, mark moves complete, and keep the equipment move record tied to the larger operation.

For teams coordinating equipment between jobs, the shop, the yard, and outside trucking vendors, DispatchVO helps reduce missed details and gives everyone a clearer record of what was moved, where it went, and when it was completed.

Timecards, Payroll, Job Costing, and Accounting

TimeVO

TimeVO is built to make field timecards simpler, more accurate, and more connected.

Instead of starting every timecard from scratch, TimeVO can auto-populate key information from other IVO modules, including employee, project, crew, and equipment details. It is designed for heavy civil contractors that need timecard data to align with bid items, cost codes, equipment usage, payroll, and job costing.

For Airy’s, Inc., TimeVO helped replace a timekeeping process that required duplicate entries for employees and equipment. In IVO's Airy’s, Inc. case study, Ryan Hill, Owner and President, said payroll for 72 people used to take about half a day. After adopting TimeVO, he said one morning’s payroll review took “maybe 10-15 minutes.”

That kind of improvement is exactly what TimeVO is designed to support: cleaner field data, less back-and-forth, and payroll-ready information without extra administrative work for your team.

IntegrationsVO

IntegrationsVO connects IVO Systems with ERP and accounting platforms contractors already use, including Viewpoint Vista, Viewpoint Spectrum, FOUNDATION, Sage 100 Contractor, and Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate.

These integrations help keep accounting data and field data in sync. Depending on the integration, contractors can pull jobs, employees, equipment, cost codes, payroll information, and other key records into IVO, while also pushing work orders, mechanic timecards, meter readings, labor hours, equipment hours, and related data back into their ERP or accounting system.

For heavy civil contractors, that connection helps reduce double entry and keeps field, shop, payroll, and accounting teams working from more consistent information.

Rentals, Planning, and Documentation

RentalVO

RentalVO helps contractors manage rented equipment alongside owned equipment.

Rental equipment can be tracked in IVO with start and end dates, costs, utilization, and rent-to-own information. Rentals can also appear alongside owned assets in TrackVO, giving teams better visibility into what is on rent, where it is being used, and whether it still needs to be there.

For contractors managing a mix of owned and rented equipment, RentalVO helps prevent forgotten rentals, improve cost visibility, and support better equipment decisions.

EqPlannerVO

EqPlannerVO gives contractors a longer-term view of equipment needs with a Gantt-chart planning tool.

Teams can plan equipment allocations by project, equipment group, or specific machine, then review upcoming needs across weeks, months, or longer planning windows. EqPlannerVO also connects with TrackVO, allowing current equipment location data to support longer-term planning.

For contractors trying to look beyond tomorrow’s schedule, EqPlannerVO helps identify future equipment conflicts, plan resource needs earlier, and make better use of the fleet they already have.

UtilityLocateVO

UtilityLocateVO helps contractors manage 811 ticket information and documentation from one accessible place.

Teams can create, manage, and review utility locate information, including ticket numbers, dates, notes, photos, history, and related project information. Field employees can access locate details from their phones or tablets, helping crews confirm they have the information they need before digging.

Airy’s, Inc. started with UtilityLocateVO and ScheduleVO to simplify crew planning and reduce risk in the field. Before IVO, Airy’s managed 811 tickets through spreadsheets, which became harder to control as ticket volume grew. With UtilityLocateVO, ticket information became easier to organize, access, and review from the field.

In the Airy’s, Inc. case study, Brittany Wilson, Contract Administrator, explained: "I could sit there for hours scrolling trying to find certain locates through the JULIE (811) website. Where in IVO, it's broken down by each job - they're loaded in by each project that we have.”

One Connected Platform for Daily Construction Operations

Every contractor’s workflow looks a little different. That’s why IVO Systems was designed as a connected platform that can fit the way a company already operates, then expand as its needs grow.

With IVO Systems you only pay for the modules you need, and you're given company-wide, unlimited access to the platform - controlled by custom user permissions.

Many contractors start with the tools that solve their most urgent problems, then add more modules as they see the value of having scheduling, equipment tracking, maintenance, inspections, dispatching, rentals, utility locates, timecards, and accounting integrations connected in one system.

That connection is where IVO’s platform becomes more than a set of individual tools. Information entered in one part of the system can support the next step in the workflow, helping teams reduce duplicate entry, improve visibility, and keep the field and office aligned.

About the CE Top Tech List

Now in its 24th year of publication, Construction Executive is the leading trade magazine about the business of construction. Published in its May/June 2026 issue, the CE Top Tech list was developed by asking hundreds of firms that provide technology and software solutions for the construction industry to complete a nomination form.

The information collected included: 1) the firm’s product offerings specific to the AEC industry; 2) the user profile (type and size of firm for which each product is recommended); 3) how each product is sold (by seat, user, license and/or project, etc.); and 4) the number of active users within the past 12 months (by individual users and/or companies). There was no fee to participate and not every firm that completed the nomination form made this curated list. After carefully scrutinizing the data collected, the 2026 list of the CE Top Tech was developed. For more information, contact surveys@magazinexperts.com.

Note: Some technology firms that did not submit the nomination form by the deadline were included for the sake of completeness.
